Miniature Reaction and Momentum Wheels for
Nanosatellites and Microsatellites
We
manufacture 3-axis Miniature Reaction Wheels (MRW)
in a hermetically sealed enclosures. The
IMI-101
suitable for up to about 20 lb Nanosatellite
applications requiring precise 3-axis pointing such
as is required for Earth imaging or Celestial
pointing. The
IMI-201 is a variant
of the IMI-101 intended for larger spacecraft (up to
about 50 lbs). It achieves higher control authority
by use of high speed motors. The IMI-201 will be
available 4Q07.
The IMI-101 is a 3-axis

Torque and momentum
storage have been sized for a micro or nano-spacecraft
in a high agility application. For example, the
IMI-101 can slew an Earth imaging CubeSat size
spacecraft to rapidly retarget between successive
aim points, each located ±30° off track.

Typical Nanosat Application
The IMI-200™ is an enhanced version of the IMI-201
which incorporates full Attitude
Determination and Control Capability in a single
package. It includes electromagnets,
magnetometer, earth, and sun sensors as well as a
fully programmed ADACS computer. The
IMI-200 will be available in 1Q08.
